The Oktibbeha Audubon Society is an affiliate of the National Audubon Society and as such seeks to conserve, protect, and restore natural ecosystems. Although they have an emphasis on birds, they have grown to include conservation of all wildlife and natural places and biological diversity.
Annual Events: Fall Migration Count, National Wildlife Refuge Week, Christmas Bird Count, Mississippi Ornithological Society meeting, Strawberry Plains Hummingbird Migration Celebration
Projects: Mississippi Bird Atlas Project – this is a census of breeding birds throughout Mississippi and was coordinated by a member of the Oktibbeha County Audubon Society.
Volunteer opportunities: Volunteers are needed for bird censuses, migration counts, and the other annual events held in the state.
